[Scene: The beach, Jack is sitting alone, staring out at the ocean. Sawyer approaches him.]

Sawyer: You know, Doc, you're starting to look like one of those sad-sack statues that people put on their lawns.

Jack: What do you want, Sawyer?

Sawyer: I just wanted to say... you've been carrying this guilt around for a long time now. It's eating you up inside.

Jack: [sighs] You don't know what you're talking about.

Sawyer: Oh, but I do. You think it was your fault, don't you? That plane crash. But here's the thing, Doc – none of us were supposed to be here. None of us had any control over it. We're all just survivors, trying to figure things out as we go along.

Jack: [pauses, looking thoughtful] Maybe you're right.

Sawyer: Of course I'm right. Now stop moping and help me with something.

Jack: [smirks slightly] What do you need?

Sawyer: I need you to trust me. For once. Just for a little while.

Jack: [nods slowly] Okay. What do you need?

[They walk off together, the camera pans back to the ocean, where the waves crash against the shore.]

[Scene: The hatch, Locke is typing furiously on the computer. Ben enters.]

Ben: John, you know the rules. You can't stay down here forever.

Locke: [without looking up] I'm not leaving until I understand why this island chose me.

Ben: [sits down opposite Locke] The island doesn't choose anyone, John. People find their way here because they need to. And you... you needed to come here more than most.

Locke: [pauses, looks up at Ben] What do you mean?

Ben: You've always been searching for something, haven't you? Ever since you were a boy. First it was your father, then it was this island. But maybe, just maybe, you'll find what you're looking for right here.

Locke: [looks thoughtful] Or maybe I'll find something else entirely.

[Ben smiles slightly and stands up.]

Ben: Either way, John, you're exactly where you're meant to be.

[End Scene]

[Scene: The jungle, Jin and Sun are walking together. Jin stops suddenly and takes Sun's hand.]

Jin: [speaking Korean] Do you remember when we first met?

Sun: [smiling] How could I forget? You were so shy.

Jin: [laughs softly] And you were so beautiful.

Sun: [tears up slightly] I miss my family.

Jin: [holds her closer] We will see them again. Together.

[They continue walking, hand in hand, as the camera fades out.]
