Elena: Damon, what do you want?
Damon: I just wanted to talk.
Elena: About what?
Damon: About Stefan. He's your brother, Elena. You know him better than anyone.
Elena: And?
Damon: And... he's been lying to me. For years.
Elena: Lying about what?
Damon: About everything. His past, his present, his future. He's not the person he says he is.
Elena: Maybe he's not, but he's still my brother.
Damon: And you're still in love with him.
Elena: That's none of your business.
Damon: It is when he's putting you in danger.
Elena: Stefan would never hurt me.
Damon: No, but he might let others hurt you. Or worse.
Elena: What are you saying?
Damon: I'm saying be careful, Elena. Love can be dangerous.
[Scene: Mystic Grill]
Stefan: You're meddling again, Damon.
Damon: Someone has to.
Stefan: Leave Elena out of this.
Damon: She's already involved, Stefan. She's always been involved.
Stefan: She doesn't need to be.
Damon: Oh, come on, Stefan. Don't tell me you haven't noticed how she's changed since you two got together.
Stefan: Changed? In what way?
Damon: More reckless. More impulsive. More like me.
Stefan: That's not true.
Damon: Face it, Stefan. You're dragging her down into your world. A world where nothing is safe.
Stefan: My world is no more dangerous than yours.
Damon: Mine is honest. Yours is full of secrets and lies.
Stefan: And what about you, Damon? Aren't you full of secrets too?
Damon: Touché. But at least I don't pretend to be something I'm not.
Stefan: And what are you pretending to be?
Damon: Someone who cares. Someone who wants to protect her.
Stefan: Protect her from what?
Damon: From you.

Bonnie: Jeremy, I can feel it. Something bad is going to happen.
Jeremy: Bonnie, you're being paranoid.
Bonnie: Am I? Elena's in trouble, Jeremy. I can feel it.
Jeremy: Elena's fine. She's stronger than you think.
Bonnie: That's what worries me. The stronger she gets, the more dangerous things become.
Jeremy: What are you talking about?
Bonnie: There are forces at work here that we don't understand. Forces that want to use Elena for their own purposes.
Jeremy: Like who?
Bonnie: I don't know yet. But I will. And when I do, we have to stop them.
[Scene: Mystic Falls Cemetery]
Caroline: Tyler, I need to talk to you.
Tyler: What about?
Caroline: About us.
Tyler: Us? There is no us, Caroline.
Caroline: What do you mean? We were supposed to be together.
Tyler: Things change, Caroline. People change.
Caroline: Not you. You're the same person you've always been.
Tyler: No, I'm not. I've been running from who I am, but I can't anymore.
Caroline: Running from what?
Tyler: From what I am. From what I could become.
Caroline: Tyler, whatever it is, we can face it together.
Tyler: No, Caroline. This is something I have to do alone.
